Behind the Music
Filmharmonic: Backstage
Join us for QCRC-CARI’s “Behind the Music” on Wednesday, 6 October 2021, 1.05pm
Ian Hanger Recital Hall, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, South Bank Campus
This year, the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra collaborated with the Griffith Film School to present ‘Fimharmonic’ – curated and conducted by Associate Professor Peter Morris. The program featured original collaborations between student composers and filmmakers, iconic masterworks performed as a live soundtrack to the moving image, as well as the world premiere of the short film Liquefazione, by Professor Herman van Eyken.
This panel discussion will lift the curtain on the process behind this epic event. Hosted by QCGU Deputy Director (Research) Dr. Alexis Kallio and featuring guests Professor Herman van Eyken (Director, GFS), Associate Professor Peter Morris (Deputy Director, Engagement and Head of Ensembles QCGU), as well as student filmmaker and composer participants, the panel will explore the realities, challenges, and opportunities that arose through a collaboration between two, at times very different, art worlds.
This event is open to the public. Griffith University students, researchers, collaborative artists and musicians are especially welcome.
