Jazz’s Afro-Caribbean roots are as crucial to the music’s development as its long history of innovation in Black US culture. In this ensemble we will focus on repertoire and rhythmic and improvisational concepts from the vibrant living tradition of Afro-Cuban jazz as well as other African-derived musical genres.
