Queensland Conservatorium is pleased to be hosting the Finals Concert of the 2021 Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition.
This year, the inaugural Young Lev Piano Competition for pianists age up to 16 runs concurrently with the original competition for pianists age 16 – 30. With total prizes exceeding $60,000 and a broad age range, the competitions are the largest piano event in Australia.
The Finals Concert features six pianists performing with the acclaimed Queensland Symphony Orchestra and renowned Australian conductor Benjamin Northey. Three finalists of the Young Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition will each perform a concerto movement and three finalists of the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition will each perform a complete concerto. The Finals Concert will also be livestreamed and judged online by a distinguished international Jury: Barry Douglas (Ireland), Irina Plotnikova (Russia), and Sergio Tiempo (Argentina).
The Finals follow Recitals performances presented in prestigious Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane venues over a four week period which will be judged by eminent jurors Michael Endres (Germany/NZ), Daniel Herscovitch (Australia); Konstantin Shamray (Russia/Australia).
