Queensland Symphony Orchestra- Mozart’s Jupiter
Beethoven or Schumann? It’s a tough choice – and we’re leaving it up to you at Mozart’s Jupiter. The first time we perform the symphony on Friday 1 March, we’ll pair it with Beethoven’s moody Moonlight Sonata (you’ll know it when you hear it!), and Hungarian composer Kurtág’s eerie, yet mesmerising Quasi una fantasia. Audiences can also expect an unconventional spin on an orchestral performance, so expect the unexpected!
For those who enjoy a traditional orchestral experience, our second Jupiter on Saturday 2 March kicks off with Schumann’s only piano concerto. Top-tier Aussie pianist Andrea Lam will traverse every peak of the tastefully emotive Concerto for Piano. Admirer of the avant-garde, Japanese composer Tōru Takemitsu’s experimental Rain Tree brings a different perspective to the song a storm makes. And as for the Jupiter? Well, it’s Mozart – so you can expect spirit-lifting jollity interspersed with witty melodrama. Still can’t decide which to attend? Why not come to both and experience the gale force that is QSO at the Queensland Conservatorium.
