Conception
Immerse yourself into the world of Bebop, arguably the most influential era in music history. This ensemble has a focus on a deeper understanding of the rhythm and harmony of this era, the key musicians, and the cultural and social influences that shaped Bebop into the revolutionary force that it was.
Con Alma
Jazz’s Afro-Caribbean roots are as crucial to the music’s development as its long history of innovation in Black US culture. This ensemble has a focus on repertoire and rhythmic and improvisational concepts from the vibrant living tradition of Afro-Cuban jazz as well as other African-derived musical genres.
6pm – Pre-concert foyer music with ANZOC
Standing for Australian and New Zealand original compositions, ANZOC explores all jazz-related styles through research of work by others in this sphere, while students are also encouraged to try out their own compositions in an exciting, welcoming place.
