Two delightful comedies, alongside one of Mozart’s great dramas join together to make up the 2017 Val Machin Opera Scenes.

Chabrier’s sparkling comedy of errors, L’Etoile is a rare French treat about a disguised King, mistaken identity, and stars that predict the future. Donizetti’s much-loved The Elixir of Love tells the story of lovelorn Nemorino, who resorts to a potion from a travelling peddler to woo the wealthy landowner, Adina. Mozarts Idomeneo, King of Crete is a grand opera seria about the many dramas following the Trojan wars.
