Opera & Voice
Please join us for the annual Val Machin Opera Scenes, as the Classical Voice department presents two of the most-loved scenes from the operatic repertoire: Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) and Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in collaboration with the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Associate Professor Peter Luff.
View the digital program here.
Repertoire includes:
Mozart – Le Nozze di Figaro (Finale, Act 2)
Britten – A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Finale)
Two different worlds.
In a period of conflict and social upheaval, of darkness, distrust, scheming and plotting, Mozart’s ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ is a complex web of relationships between servants and masters, and past and present lovers.
And then to the Athenian wood in Britten’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’- where the Fairies’ realm hovers simultaneously alongside the human. The Athenian court is entertained by a merry band of craftsmen dallying in thespian pursuits.
